This "Grand Tour of African Archaeology" begins in Ethiopia, home to ancient megaliths, the Rock Cut Churches, and the Tiya Stones. Next, it’s off to the coast of Kenya and Tanzania to explore jungle cloaked ruins and search for lost gold. Then, after a three day bus ride, we arrive in Zimbabwe, where scores of lost cities dot the landscape. The final leg takes us to the mysterious Stone Circles and an archaic rock calendar in South Africa. It's a trip about lost civilizations, giants, treasure, and other paranormal phenomena. Some of them familiar, others new and exciting! Along the way, we'll meet various people, live off the land and traverse through settings both urban and rural- a portrait of contemporary Africa!

Africa and the Cities of Stone eBook Eric Mitchell

It's an excellent compilation of Eric Mitchell's travels through the content of Africa. The first couple of chapters felt a little wordy, but the book finds it's grove and becomes an entertaining read of the many wonders that can be found in Africa.

Africa and the Cities of Stone eBook Eric Mitchell Reviews

Great read! I enjoyed reading about the African culture and history. I loved how personable the writer was and how it felt like he was telling a story right to me. I look forward to reading more books from this author!
Great Read! A guy stops his life, for a few months, and takes an adventure of all sorts, in Africa! This is a well written book. It is in first person narrative, by someone who is intelligent and very witty...I laughed a lot, especially with all the conversations with the locals. This book not only holds a vast knowledge of African History, there is also romance and suspense. Also..thanks for filling me in on " The Bag of Sensitive Items. " I look forward to this writers next adventure!!
Whether you enjoy tales of travel or close up glimpses of history and ancient culture, this is the book for you. The author takes you through a fascinating portrait of both the modern Africa while using the remains of the "Cities of Stone" to paint a detailed description of the civilizations that both grew (and sometimes fell) on the dark continent. This is a must-read, whether you have an interest in archeology, enjoy international travel to exotic places, or simply appreciate a well-told tale of one man's journey to follow his heart's desire. Here's hoping this isn't the last work we see from this writer.
This book captured me from the beginning. Being caught up in the corporate life for the past few years I have yearned to travel and explore what the world has to offer. Reading about Eric’s determination to travel has sparked the travel bug in me, and reminded me that life is not just about your small circle you are in now but the adventures you take outside of your comfort zone.

I loved the writing style of this book. It felt like I was being told the story from Eric directly, which made it feel personable. One of the things I enjoyed most was hearing about the people he met along his journey, from a fellow commuter to Peter who discussed the mistreatment of women that still occurs today. I thoroughly enjoyed reading about the people, culture and history of the country. I hope to be reading about a new adventure soon!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I found the writers style to flow as if the story were being told to me orally. The descriptive manner in which the sights and conversations with people along the way merge to paint a picture of what an adventure should be was evident to me from the beginning and by the end it left me wanting another tale of another adventure. I hope this author continues to write his stories of adventure down!
A well thought-out "sampler" which balances the archaeology of Africa with the daily life of its indigenous cultures and people. Presented in an easy to read format..
A very interesting read. The author takes you along his journey of Africa. While I admit, I am not a fan of the travel genre, this one was very well written.
